  • Once paid, your entry fee is non-refundable however you are free to transfer your registration to someone else

General Rules

  • Tips for all games must be in by no later than the kickoff of the first game of the round.
  • Tips must be submitted using this website (a copy of your tips are sent to you via email) and can only be amended before the first game kicks-off. After that, they are locked in for the entire round.
  • If games are postponed during the scheduled round, selections will either carry forward until the match is played or the delayed matches will be rescheduled into a later round. This is at the sole discretion of the admin/tournament organiser.
  • If you are on holidays or away, you can send tips in advance - just change the round number and proceed as per normal.
  • If you plan to be offline and unable to submit your tips, you can authorise other tipsters to submit them on on your behalf by selecting this option in your profile.
  • If you do not put your tips in or you miss the deadline, you will be given the same points as the worst tipster for that round ... unless you have AutoTips available (see below).
  • If you forget to do your selections in any of the first three rounds, AutoTip is a FootyWeb feature that submits an autopick for all games and eligible competitions on your behalf. From Round 4 onwards, it will only be available for a maximum of two more rounds over the remaining A-League season. For those two rounds, AutoTip will only make selections for the standard competition so you will automatically be knocked out of any special competitions such as the Knockout, Jackpot and Super Jackpot Competitions
  • If a Community Tipster fails to tip for five consecutive rounds, they risk being removed from the competition
  • The main tipping competition finishes after each team has played their standard round of matches (ie. the finals are not included).

Termination of Tipping Competition

Should the standard A-League season end prematurely due to cancellation by the FFA or should the tournament organiser be physically unable to administer the competition (eg. death or disability), the following will apply:

(A) Competition terminated after ten rounds or more:
  • Top 5 prizemoney is to be awarded based on final ladder positions when competition is terminated
  • If all tipsters don't have an opportunity to Double-Up (ie. no notice given that the competition is ending prematurely), tipster points will need to be adjusted to remove ALL Double-Up points scored
  • Any unpaid prizemoney for ‘special competitions’ (such as the Knockout, Jackpot, Super Jackpot, Grand Final competition, etc) where a winner cannot be determined, will be reallocated to the Top-5 positions
  • Prior to calculating tipster prizemoney, any annual expenses# associated with running the website/mobile app are to be deducted.
(B) Competition terminated less than ten rounds:
  • Entry fees will be refunded (on a pro-rata basis with remaining prizemoney available)
  • The amount refunded to each tipster will be calculated using the total entry fees received less expenses# and prizemoney paid, divided by the number of participants
  • If any tipster has already received a full refund of their entry fee (eg. Refer-a-Friend promotion), they won’t be eligible for another refund
  • Each tipster entitled to a refund can also take the option of FootyWeb retaining their entry fee for the next tipping competition of their choice (NRL or A-League)
# Note: Website expenses refer only to external service providers (as I do not charge any costs personally for administering the competition)

Competition Summary

(1) Main Tipping Competition - Top 5
Tipsters are awarded points as follows:
- 2 points for correctly tipping the result
- 0 points for an incorrect tip
- 4 bonus points if you pick the round

Double-Up Round:
- You can select one of your rounds as the "Double-Up" round.
- This means that you will get double the usual points for the round (note: If you pick the round, you will get double the bonus points too!).
- You can only do this ONCE, so make sure you get those tips correct!
- If selections are required for more than six games, Double-Up points will be adjusted so they are only awarded for the first six games.

Split or Midweek Rounds
If there are split rounds or games being played in advance/delayed, the four bonus points are awarded for picking all games for that week (rather than the standard round).

(2) Knockout Competition - $100 each
- During the year we will also hold at least one "Knockout Competition" (there maybe more, depending on how well everyone tips and the overall prizemoney pool).
- Each week, I will select one of the games to be the Knockout game for that week.
- If you pick the result, you stay in, if you don't you're out!
- The winner will be the last person standing (the prize is shared if there is more than one tipster left).
- If all tipsters are Knocked Out and the prizemoney is less than $40 each, the competition will continue onto the following round. Should there be prizemoney budget available from other competitions, those funds can be reallocated so that each tipster receives the minimum prizemoney ie. $40 each.

(3) Jackpot Competition - Up to $300
- This is a variation of the Knockout competition.
- Each week, you need to decide which one of the teams you've chosen is your Jackpot team.
- You need to select the team you think will definitely win.
- If your Jackpot team wins (or draw's), you move onto the next round and the Jackpot pool increases by $25.
- If your Jackpot team loses, you are knocked out of the Jackpot competition and will not participate for the rest of the season.
- If your Jackpot team plays more than once in a round, the first match will decide the result in this competition.
- Once the jackpot hit the maximum prize, tipsters will continue to make selections to stay in contention
- The last tipster left in this competition will win the Jackpot prizemoney (shared if more than one, or there are multiple remaining in the final round of the regular A-League season).
- If there is only one tipster remaining (and prizemoney is below the $300 budget), they will continue to make selections to increase the jackpot until they are knocked out

(4) Super Jackpot Competition - Up to $300
- This is a variation of the Jackpot competition.
- Each week you select any A-League team and if that team wins (or draw's), you move onto the next round and the Super Jackpot pool increases by $25.
- If your Super Jackpot team loses, you are knocked out of this competition
- If your Super Jackpot team plays more than once in a round, the first match will decide the result in this competition.
- You can only select each A-League team once during this competition
- The last tipster left in this competition, will win the Super Jackpot prizemoney (shared if more than one).
- If there is only one tipster remaining (and prizemoney is below the $300 budget), they will continue to make selections to increase the jackpot until they are knocked out
- Should we reach the maximum prize (ie. all available teams have been used), this competition is deemed over and any remaining tipsters will share the prize.

(5) Grand Final Competition - $100
- Before Round 1 commences you need to predict who will be the winning team in the A-League Grand Final.
- You need to select the team and also the winning goal margin.
- The tipster who correctly picks the winner of the Grand Final (and has the closest margin) will be declared the winner of this competition.
- The winner(s) will receive a $100 prize.
- If nobody selects the winning team, then the prizemoney will be added to the main competition pool.

(6) Wooden Spoon Competition - $100
- Like the GF Competition, you need to predict who will be the last placed team in the A-League.
- You need to select the team and also the number of premiership points you expect that team to receive for the entire season
- The tipster who correctly picks the wooden spooner of the A-League (and has the closest number of premiership points) will be declared the winner of this competition.
- The winner(s) will receive a $100 prize.
- If nobody correctly selects the last placed A-League team, the prizemoney will be added to the main competition pool
- If any teams are penalised by the A-League (eg. due to salary cap breaches, etc) and lose all their premiership points, the wooden spoon team will default to the next lowest placed team.

(7) Free Membership Competition - $200
- Towards the end of the season, Full Members will be invited to submit an entry into this competition to win free membership for next season
- To win, you need to predict one of the two teams in this year's Grand Final plus the total number of goals scored by all A-League teams for the standard season (ie. finals not included)
- Up to five free FootyWeb memberships will be awarded to tipsters who have chosen a grand finalists and have the correct (or closest) goal score
- If no tipsters have correctly identified either of the two grand finalists, an alternative competition will be run to decide on this prizemoney

Sounds complicated? Don't panic as not all competitions are running at the same time!
