Frequently Asked Questions

What prizemoney does the winner
receive?

The top five Full Members will receive a share of the remaining prizemoney pool after all the special competitions have been awarded. All tipsters who contribute to the prize money (ie. by paying a $40 entry fee) will provide a pool of funds to share amongst the winners. The prize money is generally distributed in the following proportions - 1st Place (30%), 2nd Place (25%), 3rd Place (20%), 4th Place (15%) and 5th Place (10%). As a guide, the tipster who finishes in 1st Place usually receives around $1,000 (but it could be more or less depending on how many full members we have).

How much of my entry fee goes to
Rod for running this competition?

Zero! All entry fees are paid out in prize money to the winners. FootyWeb isn't a business - I run the tipping competition as a hobby for the enjoyment (and sometimes frustration!) of those who are playing.

Can my employer, club or
social group use FootyWeb?

Yes. The FootyWeb platform can be used to run tipping competitions for your work, social or sporting club at no cost. Once each member is registered, one of you can create a tipster group and add others. Each team member will receive confirmation that they are in the group, followed by tipping result emails after each round.

You don't charge anything to host a
competition .. so what's in it for you?

That's correct. As I do this for a hobby, it doesn't make any difference to me if there are 100 tipsters using the platform or 1,000! I'm retired, so FootyWeb keeps my mind active and I enjoy watching the A-League and maintaining the website.

Do group members have to be the
same membership type?

No. It doesn't matter if you're a Full Member or Community Member. If some of you want to play for prizemoney and others just for fun, that's fine and you can all be in the same group.

Can I be in more than
one tipster group?

Yes. If you have different friends (eg. work mates, sporting club, etc) you can be in separate groups for each of them. The only restriction is that Community Members can only create/manage one group (but they can still be a member of multiple groups).

Can I change my tips during the
round?

No. FootyWeb is run like a standard office tipping comp so there is full disclosure of everyones selections once the round kicks-off. This means you can only change your tips up until the kick-off of the first game of the round (after that, they are locked in and cannot be amended).

I missed the tipping deadline. Can
I tip the remaining matches?

No. Once the deadline is missed, you are unable to submit any selections and could receive the lowest score for the round (unless you have an AutoTip available).

What is AutoTip?

AutoTip is a FootyWeb feature that automatically submits selections should you miss the tipping deadline. For up to two rounds, it will make selections for all standard games but you are automatically knocked out of any special competitions that are running at that time (eg. Knockout, Jackpot and Super Jackpot).
